"Intrenchment Creek Site at Old Fayetteville Rd"
Battle of Atlanta
I was an observer for research at a site along Old Fayetteville Rd just outside the
Atlanta Prison Farm at the corner of Bouldercrest Rd. This site saw heavy action
during the Battle of Atlanta. The team for the State Archaeologist Dept. found
many artifacts from the battle. Many fired rounds of .69 cal and .58 cal type were
found. Sonme shell fragments were also recorded and tagged to be taken downtown.
The site is where General G.W. Smith, CSA met with General Walker, CSA the Union Forces under
General Leggett. This area was the southern pivotal point of the Battle
