The Trail to the Civil War

The following piece from a survey in American History is an excellent look at how the Civil War was begun and how things were set in place to create the war.  Many times in American History wars have been entered by setting the stage to make sure that our nation would be involved in various conflicts.  The Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, Viet Nam and currently the mid-East conflicts in which we entered to deter terrorism only to follow a path of war with other nations.
The Civil War was no different.  After succession of the key southern states the plan to create a way to bring the Union back together was initiated.  Human nature to fight against what they feel is normal.  The following piece is a good read.
