Indian Site Just South of Railroad Tracks in Luella 1972
Some good friends and I searched the plowed earth on the west side of Hwy 155 just south of the
railroad tracks in Luella. We found several arrow points and some larger ones identified as spear
points. They were made of quartz material. The man who farmed the property said that he often
found these arrow heads after plowing. It would stand to reason that at some point in history the
Indians were likely making arrow points and spear heads from the outcrops of quartz in this area.
And it would likely be from the Woodland period.
1. 40 or more arrow points
2. 15 spear heads
3. Several pieces of worked stone
Update: This area today would be in the new Heron Bay Development.
