North of Stockbridge along Hwy 42 near the Clayton County line is the site of the
Panther Creek Indian grave site. The area is east of the Hwy and near the Clayton
County Sewerage Treatment Facility. The site was found in the 1970’s as site
Preparations were being conducted for the facility. The graves are still on the property
But can not be accessed due to the treatment plant. These graves numbered about
10 small fieldstone mounds and were of Creek Indian origin.
