Daniel Boone
1734-1820
Daniel Boone was a great man and legend of his time. He was a frontiersman who explored the Cumberland Mountains and found trails over the mountains to the new territory of Kentucky. He would be known for his hunting skills, Indian fighting, and his exploration of the regions west of the known colonies. He led many families through the Cumberland Gap and they would settle in Boonesboro. Daniel Boone was a well inclined man who lived off the land but would help forge a new frontier for Americans.
He lost several family and friends to hostile Indians. Later he would settle even farther west to get away from the continuing expansion of the Colonies as they became States. His exploits would be the basis for many a legendary story of his time.
