Patrick Henry
                                                    1736-1799

This great man was a famous orator and statesman from Virginia.  He was a member of the House of
Burgesses and spoke against the Stamp Act of 1765.  He would make clear and concise speeches
about the tyranny of Great Britain upon the colonies.  He would be ridiculed by those loyal to the
British.
Patrick Henry would give his "Give me Liberty or Give me death" speech which would ignite a fire in
the souls of men .  Henry County Georgia is named for Patrick Henry.
There are many memorials to this great speaker who had thoughts for the rights of man that would be
included in the important writings of his day.
