The Groundbreaking
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Veterans Wall of Honor was held Monday at Heritage Park in
McDonough. Joanne Consalvo-Mulvaney, who served in the Navy, spearheaded the project as a
tribute to her father, Joseph Consalvo, a World War II veteran, and to all military men and women in
this country.  envision this Wall of Honor as a place to remember all our veterans, living or deceased,
said Consalvo-Mulvaney, and give them an honorable tribute in recognition of a job well done, so
that we might never forget that it was their sacrifice that gave us the freedom we enjoy today.

Many prominent figures participated in the ground-breaking ceremony, including Congressman Mac
Collins, a representative from the office of Congressman David Scott, Henry County Commission
Chairman Leland Maddox, Commissioner Jason Harper (District III), and Commissioner Lee
Holman (District V). Commissioner Harper, in whose district the wall will be located, said, Heritage
Park is a fitting location for the Wall of Honor. This park and the wall will serve as an outdoor
classroom where our school children can come to learn about our heritage and the freedom that we
enjoy due to the sacrifices made by our veterans and their families
